Regicide has been self-funded so far though a Kickstarter campaign will be launched in the near future to raise funds for additional artwork and manufacturing. Currently the campaign is scheduled to start in early 2017. You can sign up to the Regicide newsletter for the most up-to-date information on this and other developments via the 'Contact' page.

Regicide is an independently produced board game designed to give players a highly strategic battle game with a strong background narrative. The setting is low-fantasy, which in this case manifests itself to mean a fictional dark medieval setting  rooted in realism. You will find no dragons or magic here, just the world of men exposed in a time of war and intrigue.

In 2016 Christopher Cheetham founded Black Beard Gaming Limited to enable Regicide to move from idea to reality. Regicide has been carefully developed over the past 8 or so years and is currently in late-stage playtesting.

A number of changes to the gameplay have been adapted over the playtesting period but the game stays true to its reason for creation - strategic battlefield combat with slick rules! Artwork is central to Regicide and has pride of place in all elements of the game, involving removing as much  text and clutter from the cards and other game elements as reasonably possible.

Another important element of Regicide is that we want to move away from pay-to-win mechanics and have the  skill and guile of the player reign. Trying to stay as true to realistic battle means that whilst there will be certain troop types which are better trained/equipped/mentally prepared than others they will still have similar strengths and weaknesses to their opponents. We hope to create an environment where you don't have to pay for the rarest card to give you a near certain win over your opponent, only good tactics can achieve that here.
